Let’s be real—press-on nails are a dream for quick glam (especially when you’re short on time or energy). But when it’s time to say goodbye to your pretty set, things can get a little tricky if you’re not careful.
I’ve been doing this beauty thing for years now (through changing seasons, trends, and diapers 🍼), and I’ve learned that how you remove your press-ons is just as important as how you put them on.
I’m sharing my gentle, no-stress method for taking off press-on nails without damaging your natural nails—especially the ones that use jelly gel glue like Eleglara’s. It’s simple, kind to your nails, and totally doable at home (yes, even with a toddler pulling on your leg 😅).
1. Be Patient, Pretty
I know, I know—you want them off now. But trust me, pulling them off when they’re still stuck tight is a recipe for sadness. Wait until you feel them starting to loosen naturally (maybe after 5–7 days). That’s your sign it’s time.
2. Soak in Warm, Soapy Water
This is my favorite part. I fill a bowl with warm water, a few drops of gentle soap (I just use my baby’s!), and a little bit of olive oil. Then I soak my hands for about 10–15 minutes.
It feels like a mini spa moment. 💅
3. Gently Wiggle – No Yanking!
After soaking, most of the nails will start to lift at the edges. I use a wooden cuticle stick (never anything sharp!) and gently nudge them from the sides. If one isn’t budging? Soak it a bit longer. It’s not worth the damage.
4. Clean Off the Leftover Gel
The jelly gel glue Eleglara uses is super comfy and nail-friendly, but you might have a little leftover on your nails. I just use a soft buffer or a bit more warm water with a cotton pad and gently remove it. No scraping needed.
5. Give Your Nails Some TLC
